Hello everyone! Once again, our week was crazy! We had experiences that 100% would only happen on the mission haha and it's just all made me love being a missionary so so much! We also met a lot of new people so I'll tell ya about those first and then I'll tell yall one of the craziest experiences I've had!
First off, one day, we had some extra time to kill so we decided to eat lunch on the county dock. It was quite chill and all and then this guy showed up and was just looking out at the river. We said hello and from there the vibes were great! His name is Jose, DJ Jose now because he was playing some nice music while we chatted haha! We just talked about where he's from and he had lots of questions about missionary work and all. Also, this guy collects a bunch of nice shoes so his fit was pretty sweet! Then some more people showed up to the place we were at and we basically just had a dock party! Everyone was so nice! Later, we got Jose's number and a couple of days later we got lunch with him! We asked him what's the one thing he's really been searching for in his life and he said peace & happiness.....a great in for us haha! We gave him a Book of Mormon and he's excited to start reading! Yay!
One day, while we were at the library doing weekly planning, we walked out and this guy was wearing a Cobra Kai shirt (the tv show on netflix) so I complemented him on it and he told us that he'd met with missionaries before! We asked if he'd like to meet again and he said sure! Sweet!
Another day, we got a text from a girl saying that she had met with missionaries a year and a half ago and wanted to try again! We are meeting with her tonight so wish us luck!
Then, this one day, we were at a tire place because our tire had a screw in it. While we were there we grinded out a bunch of contacts. We ended up getting a Book of Mormon referral text! (dope because that never happens and it was from one of our own ads yeew!) The guys name is Toby and he said he wanted to know more about why we believe what we do. So we dropped the Book of Mormon off at his place, he has covid so we didn't talk to him but he seems nice! I know he will definitely feel the spirit as he reads!
Ok, now for the insane event that we were not anticipating for this week! I won't go too much into detail haha because it was kinda gross...so on Thursday, we went to this lady named Lethal's house. We've been teaching her and kinda her husband John. So, we show up and Lee comes out and is like "sorry girls, today isn't a good day. John just feel out back and split his head open." We asked if she needed any help, seeing as she is old and frail and she said yes. We head back and John was on the ground. Right then, I guess I went full Sister Huff doctor mode...Sister Packer got light headed and had to hide haha! Anyways, the guy needs stitches and was bleeding a lot. We eventually got a nice bandage on his head that was as clean as it could get and then I had to basically pick up the man to get him on his chair. From the looks of his face, he had a stroke as well. We left for a second and went to talk to Lee and she got a call from John and he said he'd fallen again as he was trying to go back into the house. Couple of calls later, and an ambulance...we got to take him inside the house. (at this point the ambulance had come and gone because John didn't want to go to the hospital so they couldn't do anything about it) To get John in the house, Sister Packer got behind John and I was in front and we basically walked him in. Ah, good times in Florida! He is doing better now and decided to go to the hospital so that's great!
here's some short random events from this week as well that I want to put in here :)
-We had some awesome contacts with Chuck and he is just truckin towards baptism! He joined us for volleyball night so that was pretty awesome! Mans good at volleyball!
-There was a crazy storm the other day! Lightning was all around us!
-somehow when she was eating, Sister Packer got kale in the back of her throat and it somehow made its way to her nose...she was coughing and sneezing so much but didn't know why. Then later I just hear her yell and laugh and she ran to tell me that she had just blown her nose and the kale came out! lol I love her
-We had a great lesson with Tee again and she has been reading the Book of Mormon more! yay! It was so great to see how happy she is and excited about what she's been learning!
Alright, well that's it for today and this past week! I hope yall have a great week! Be kind and follow the first good thoughts!
Love yall!
Sister Huff :)
