House of the Lord and house of the steak

hello again...I don't understand time and how it works, these days keep getting shorter and shorter but this transfer has felt insanely long haha!
I'm doing great however! I hope yall are too!

The events of this week include a tradeoff, a temple trip, a Brazilian steak house, and lots of service!

So, for the tradeoff, I was back in Dunn Ave (main Jacksonville city) with Sister Johnson! She is just being trained but she is so good! We had almost everyone cancel appointments on us so it was a lot of area contacting and spirit trackting that filled our day. It's tough to street contact in their area because we were in the super ghetto area of town and it really isn't safe for two young girls to be walking around haha so we just drove to each person we had picked out. When driving to one of the houses, we passed by two ladies sitting on their porches watching their kids. We waved at them and they excitedly waved back and we just drove onward...but then the thought came to my mind that we needed to park and walk back to talk to them. So, I told sister Johnson and she said she thought the same thing so we got out and walked back to them! We had an awesome contact because of that so yay! The two ladies were super sweet and said that they wanted to join us for church one Sunday! Before we left, I gave a little passalong card with a picture of Jesus on it to one of the kids. He took it and looked at it for a long time then put it in his pocket and said that he was gonna keep that picture forever! Literally my heart melted! I told him that anytime life got hard he could look at that picture of Jesus and he would feel happy. Moral of the story, give kids pictures of Jesus!

Alright! The temple was so much fun! We had such an awesome group and the session was full of missionaries! I just can't wait til I can go to the temple whenever! I love that place so much! It really is a place where we can receive revelation for our lives and come closer to Christ. If you have the opportunity to go to the temple often, DO IT! Especially when the temple is just up the street!

This week Chuck took us to a Brazilian Steakhouse and man oh man that was an experience! We got this whole plater of just meats. Steak, ribs, sausage, blood sausage, chicken, pork rinds, and a bunch of other stuff too it seems...man there was a lot! We barely put a dent in it so we have two boxes full of meat. Good thing that it was really yummy!

Lastly, we did a ton of service on Saturday which was awesome other than the fact we were sweating buckets in this Florida heat! At one house we were digging a place for her to put a flower bed and the other we were laying mulch. Yay for the Ammon approach!

This week I was reading in 3 Nephi 17 which is sooooooooo good! There's a part where Christ prays with and for the Nephites. I don't know why but that part really stood out to me and I love how they describe Christs prayer,

"And no tongue can speak, neither can there be written by any man, neither can the hearts of men conceive so great and marvelous things as we both saw and heard Jesus speak; and no one can conceive of the joy which filled our souls at the time we heard him pray for us unto the Father."

What an experience that would be to hear that prayer, I since I wasn't there at the time, I went to read the known prayer that we have written in John 17, The Great Intercessory Prayer. Christ really does care for us so much and lives to help us succeed in returning back to Him!

The church is so true yall!

Have an awesome week and reach out to someone who's been on your mind lately!
Love you all!

Sister Huff :)
