The ghetto flea market band

Holy moly yall, this week was quite crazy! The most random stuff occurred so prepare yourself for an all over the place email :)

To begin, we had some awesome lessons this week! Our lesson with Chuck went super well! A lot of it was getting to know him but also answering some of his questions. Our next lesson should be good because we will be going over the Doctrine of Christ, one of my favorite things to teach!
We also got civilly bashed one day too so that's always fun! We were kinda expecting it. We got a referral from the temple square sisters and said that he was a pastor at his own church and wanted to meet with missionaries...so we set up a time to meet. Our meeting was pretty good and he was super respectful and just wants to know more about what we believe. He had the classic questions so we were well prepared.

We had a trade off with the San Jose sisters (who are spanish speaking sisters) and I got to go to their area! That whole experience was so cool because it tested my Spanish knowledge...I barely know any and wasn't gifted with the gift of tongues...but I was still able to follow along in the conversation. When the Hermanas were bearing their testimonies, I could totally feel the spirit, even though I didn't really understand what they were saying. The Latinos all loved me too haha because I was trying so hard to concentrate! It was a good time!

Also on this same tradeoff we went to a flea market to do some street contacting and boy was that an experience! Flea markets are so ghetto but so fun! It even had a bunch of dead fish on ice like you see in the movies! The best part of the flea market though was playing in a makeshift band with Hermana Gunter, a guy from Haiti (named David), and a guy from Japan (named Joseph)! So, it all started with us going up to David who had a bunch of instruments in his store. I asked him if he played and he said he played the piano. I obviously said that I do to, to which he showed me to the piano he had and told me to play. I started to play Interstellar, and a crowd of people showed up along with Joseph, who then picked up a guitar and started playing some chords with my song haha! When I finished the song, Joseph sat down and hooked up an electric guitar and began to play house of the rising sun! This man is literally so cool! He told us he'd been playing since 1963! It gets better though! I then picked up the electric guitar, Joseph hooked up a bass, Hermana Gunter was on piano, and David gave us some chords to play. David started to sing and did a cool piano solo on another piano! Probably the best thing I've ever been a part of! Man, I love music so much!!!

This week Sister Sweat and I were also in a trio with Sister Kaebri Smith (not my previous comp sadly but nonetheless it was a party!) Her comp was going home and her new comp was flying in the next day, so she was stuck with us for a while. She is well versed in her star wars knowledge so we vibed hard core! Very fitting because this week was May the Fourth!

I had to give a talk in church this week as well and talked about what it means to me to be a daughter of God! That was super fun to study and talk about! I came up with three points that define what being a daughter of God means to me which are: 1) I have a divine nature  2) I have a part to play in Gods plan  3) I'm never alone
I know that these three things apply to yall too because everyone is a son or daughter of a Heavenly Father who loves them so much!

Also, in honor of mothers day I just wanted to shout out my super awesome mom! She is an absolute angel in this crazy world and I wouldn't be here with out her help and guidance. She really has been an anchor for me on my mission and I love her soooooooooo much!!!

I hope yall have an awesome week! Stay classy!

love yall!

Sister Huff :)
