94 year old track star

Hello once again! This week was fire in both the work of the Lord and the weather!...it is getting so so hot and so so humid. Daily we are sweating like pigs but hey, ya gotta make sacrifices for the cause of truth!

Alright just diving in, we had a great lesson with Chuck! He has been reading the Book of Mormon and had some questions so we answered those and we then talked about the Holy Ghost. That was a super needed lesson because we were able to help him realize that he doesn't need to know everything about the church before he gets baptized. We told him that his questions will be answered and he will be able to understand more as he continues through life with the aid of the Holy Ghost!
A wonderful promise we are given when we are baptized is that we will always have the Spirit with us. That means we have constant access to guidance and knowledge as we diligently seek it!
This week Chuck has to go in for surgery so keep him in yalls prayers. He got a Priesthood blessing on Sunday so that was nice!

We spent some time at the county dock this week and just walking around neighborhoods and through that we were able to talk to some awesome people! It's cool to see who God puts in your path when you make an effort to be out and about! One lady we met is named Gertrude and she is so so sweet! She said she was 98 years old but doesn't act like it haha! And she's from Peru! She actually waved us down as we were walking by because she just wanted someone to talk to haha! We ended up giving her a Book of Mormon too!

We had two tradeoffs this week so that was insane! They were soooo good though! On one of my tradeoffs with Hermana Rupp (one of the coolest humans ever) we had a super great contact with that old man John who I've probably talked about before. We were able to teach him and gave him a Book of Mormon! This whole meeting was spirit filled! He said that he feels that he is still on earth because he has something to do. We taught him about the plan of Salvation a little bit to go with that! He also kept saying how he really doesn't have a lot of energy but he wishes he did, we testified that if he'd read the Book of Mormon every day, he would have peace and energy he needs! Once we said that and told him what the Book of Mormon is about he was like "well! Where can I get this?!" We gave him a small one and he laughed because it was way too small for him to read haha! Good thing we had a large print in our car! So, we gave him that and headed out the door but before we did that, Hermana Rupp asked John if she should move the chair she was sitting in back to where he had it. He said no and she was like "are you sure? will you be able to make it through with your walker?" And he said "do you want to see me try?" John then proceeded to lift up his walker and weave through the chairs at super speed! Hermana Rupp and I were dying laughing because this man is like 94 years old and that was completely unexpected because we've only seen him move super slow haha! He is one crazy guy and we love him!

That same day we gave a Book of Mormon to a lady named Mary at a food bank we serve at! She just started asking us questions about our church and we asked her about her church. She's Catholic and it was cool to understand more about that religion from her! We just had a really great discussion about everything and then asked if she'd want a Book of Mormon and she said yes! The Ammon approach works yall!

This week I was reading in 3 Nephi 18 and verses 3-5 stuck out to me. Jesus Christ is giving the sacrament to the Nephites. As they passed around the bread and wine the scriptures say, "they did eat [or drink] and were filled" I don't think they were filled in the sense of not being hungry anymore...because that would be a lot of bread to eat for each person. Rather, they were filled with the Holy Ghost. It is cool to see the doctrine of Christ working in every aspect. When we are baptized, the gift of the Holy Ghost is given soon after. The same is with the sacrament, since we renew our baptismal covenants when we take it. The Spirit must follow afterwards!

I hope yall have an awesome week this week now that summer has now begun for you school kids! Have so much fun!

Love,
Sister Huff :)
