Idaho…is that you?

Wow wow wow! What an insane week this was! to summarize this week we got drinking from the fountain of youth, guitar skills, a cockatoo interupting our lessons, zone conference, crazy storms, a wedding, a baptism, and halloween! It's been getting a little colder here in Florida. I'm currently wearing a long sleeved shirt! I love it so much! Hence my subject line because for a few days, it really did feel like Idaho in early september!

Last p day we went to what is called the "fountain of Youth" here in St. Aug and that was really fun! We got to watch a cannon be fired, walked on a board walk out into a marshy area full of animals, and of course, we drank from the fountain of youth! Nothing super special happened when I drank it...all it did was taste like Florida...and trust me, that's not a good taste haha! Theres a ton of history there though so that was nice!

Tuesday something amazing happened! I got to play a super nice guitar that Mark owns haha! ok ok, hear me out, Mark doesn't let very many people touch his guitars but I guess I was a lucky one! After playing some tunes, he told me that I was pretty good and one of the best guitar players out of all the missionaries that have cycled through. An epic complement from a guy whose played for 40 years. man has skill!

Now for the cockatoo (an exotic bird)! So we had dinner with Kayli and Marcus as always and then went to the pier to have our lesson. Not even half way through the lesson I look over and I see this white bird just walking around and then it walks up to us. I was like "what the heck is a cockatoo doing here?" Then some homeless dude walks up and picks up the bird. He goes "dont mind my bird! He just wanted to say hi" then the bird proceeded to say "hi" to us! The random guy then asks if we wanted to hold his bird and I obviously said yes! The bird was so kind and so happy and so cuddly! He would just snuggle right up to you and it was so tender! The owner then talked to us for a very long time about his bird. We never finished the lesson but that's ok i guess haha! It was very very random and only in Florida could that have happened haha!

Thursday was zone conference!!! I love zone conference! First I got to see all my cool mission buds again which was awesome! And the whole 8 hours of meetings was awesome too! We talked a lot about how we can make our lessons better and more often. The goal is to have shorter but more frequent lessons. I don't know how that's gonna work out in the south but we can try! A lot of the conference was just geared towards becoming a better missionary. Having high love and high standards. And especially having love be our motivator. I've been thinking about that concept a lot lately. Love should be the thing that keeps us going. Because we love God and the people we are around. It's so wonderful to be a missionary.

Now for the weekend!! So, on Saturday Kayli and Marcus were married!! It was a super awesome wedding! Then on Sunday Kayli was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! It is so amazing to think that only a month ago we didn't even know each other! All it took was us following a prompting to go visit a member, then ask for referrals. Kayli is an amazing woman and has a wonderful life ahead of her. It was also super cool to be one of the witnesses for her baptism. The spirit was so strong as she went down into the water and was brought back up a new person. A changed soul. I know that baptism is the first step onto the covenant path that gets us back to our home in heaven. I am so very very thankful for the wonderful plan of salvation that has been given to us. And I'm especially thankful that Jesus Christ has paved the way for us! He has done it all and will help us in every step!

The very thought of Jesus can change a soul.

What a very blessed week this was. A little crazy at the beginning but it ended with an unforgettable blessing!

Be safe yall! Love yall!

Sister Huff :)
