This week was good and full of miracles! I hope yalls was too!
Miracle #1: Frank came to church!!
We met with Frank a lot this week! He is doing so well! We went to lunch with him on Tuesday and followed up on how his reading of the book of Mormon is going. Then on Friday we had a lesson with him. We walked around a park and talked about lots of things. We taught him about Christ's atonement and discussed some things that he can do to come closer to Christ. Davis gave a wonderful and simple lesson of how to come closer to Christ and Frank really loved it. It is CPR (church, prayer, read) We invited him to make time each day to do those things. Hes super reliable and I have no doubt that he will do his best to keep that commitment. We also invited him to church because we were giving talks! (A great excuse to get people to come haha) and...guess what...he totally came to church yesterday! Davis and I got to speak about the restoration. The spirit was very strong during that whole meeting, it was incredible! Davis talked mostly about the first vision and I talked about the blessings that have come from the Restoration (namely the Book of Mormon and the Priesthood). After church, we talked with him and he was sooooo happy he came. He told us that he felt peace and knew that he was where he was supposed to be, that he was home. That makes my heart so happy! The power of this church is amazing! We truly are at home when we are surrounded by good things and the spirit! Keep Frank in your prayers!
Miracle #2: music connects us!
On Thursdays we usually eat dinner at a members house (Steve who has a bunch of guitars). He has a fiance, Lisa, who is pretty hard to talk to. There's a bunch more backstory to it all but we will leave it at that haha! After dinner, Lisa was outside practicing songs that she was going to be singing for her church. It was a beautiful night so we all sat outside and talked for a bit. She needed someone to play the guitar to some of the songs she was practicing...I volunteered so quickly because I miss playing the guitar! She wanted to practice the song Hallelujah and had a paper with the chords on it. Thankfully the chords weren't too difficult! That song is soooo beautiful and Lisa has an amazing voice! It was really fun! (also while I was playing, a little frog jumped onto my arm and sat there for a second, that made my heart full haha!) After going through the song a few times, we just sat and talked about music. I started playing some stuff and we sang together. I also played the beginning of Banana Pancakes by Jack Johnson and she freaked out! She loves him as much as I love him! It was such a good bonding time and I think she will open up a lot more! We are definitely going to have some more jam sessions in the near future! Music is a universal language and it will always bring a spirit and feeling that no words could! I love it!
Miracle #3: we have gotten soooooo many referrals!
Usually Albany gets a good amount of referrals but they usually don't go very far because people lose interest or straight up say they don't remember ever signing up for a missionary visit haha! But this week was totally different! Almost every person we got a referral for actually answered their phones AND were interested in learning more or having a bible study! We are super excited to be starting this new transfer off strong! It is such a blessing!
Miracle #4: A very last minute lesson...
We also had an interesting experience after church yesterday. We were about to leave when all the sudden some people walked in. One lady goes "hey its the missionaries! We thought church started at 10 and not 9 but could we at least get a tour of the church?" We didn't have much to do so we agreed! So the lady is a member but the three other people she was with aren't. We explained that we had just given talks in church and that we could speak again if they wanted us to and they definitely wanted us to! AND our talks were basically the first lesson in Preach my Gospel so that was a score too! They were super nice and we had a wonderful conversation about the church and the restoration. One of the ladies spoke up a few times, she's 94 years old and still going strong! She told us all about the blessings that God has given her through her life and knows that she is still on earth for a reason. She also told us that she is Terry Cruz's grandma...and that he was coming to visit her soon...so lowkey we might meet Terry Cruz! That was a very fun and spirit filled experience! It was super good too that we had talks prepared! YAY!
Some other things that happened this week, we got a new Elder in our area and sadly had to say goodbye to Elder LeCompte :( The new Elder is Elder Brown and fun fact, he trained my good friend that I've known all through schooling, Alex Lemon! So that is super cool!
I am so excited for this new transfer to start! Davis and I have agreed to grind this transfer! I have such a good feeling about it all!
I hope y'all have a wonderful week and also happy Memorial day! Always look for the little miracles everyday!
Love y'all sooooo much!
Sister Huff :)
